Not All Digital Cameras Top The Charts Consistently
By guest | July 17, 2009
One surprising change, is that the 450D can use SD and SDHC memory cards. Typically these cards were only used with smaller point and shoot cameras. Canon is obviously recognizing and marketing to the large segment of point and shoot digital compact camera users looking to move up to a SLR.
Can’t say I blame you, it happens to the best of us. Just for the heck of it, lets take a look at a couple of upgrade possibilities you may want to consider for your Rebel XT. One is the Canon EOS 5D, which is considerably more expensive, but includes a multitude of features the XT doesn’t have. Keeping it in the Canon family, lets also take a look at the Canon EOS 40D. The 40D is pretty much in the middle price wise between the XT and the 5D, but with some pros and cons worth considering.
Or, if it’s the artist in you that drives your camera purchase, then then same rule applies. It’s the final pictures and images that really matter. There’s more than one way (or camera) that can deliver on that promise.
At one time megapixels would have made the top three, probably even the number one factor. Due to the rapid advance of digital photography, that time has come and past.
With the majority of those models below $300, and quite a few of those below $150. Of course, if your willing to go used with your digital camera purchase, then you’ll spend even less money. If your looking at used, be sure you stick with a reputable dealer either online or offline. This canon digital cameras and this sony dsc-w120 should help with high rated waterproof cameras.
Whichever category of camera you buy into, image quality is and should be a high priority. Try out each camera at different by taking pictures at different ISO settings. A reliable salesman should be able to show you how to adjust ISO, if your not sure. Take a look at the the quality of the images. Typically as you shoot at higher ISO settings image noise (distortion, artifacts) begin to show up. Uploading the pictures to a camera can help with this comparison.
If your looking in the over $1000 price category, then to be quite honest you don’t need my help. The best digital camera prices for these cameras is really less of an issue. Anyone looking to spend this much money for a camera should let their own personal preferences be their guide. Camera functionality and image quality are far more important at this point.
All the Canon Digital Rebels are really just entry level digital SLR cameras. That includes the XT, XTi, and XSi. Don’t get me wrong, they’re really great cameras, and provide an excellent bridge for those wanting to move from the no-brainer simple world of point and shoot photography to the beautifully rendered near-pro quality of SLR photography. Arguably Canon has done a better job of filling that gap.
